Jesus Wept (Day 3)
It’s possible to be really excited about Jesus…
and still miss Him.
The Moment Behind the Moment
In Luke 19:41–44, Jesus is entering Jerusalem.
The crowd is loud.
Hopeful.
Full of expectation.
Palm branches in the air.
Voices shouting, “Hosanna!”
It looks like celebration.
But right in the middle of it…
Jesus stops.
The Reaction No One Expected
He looks over the city…
and He weeps.
Not quietly.
Not a single tear.
He weeps.
Because He sees something the crowd doesn’t.
They see a moment.
He sees what’s coming.
They see a king who might meet their expectations.
He sees hearts that still don’t understand Him.
Missing What Matters Most
Jesus says:
“If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace…”
They were close.
So close to Him.
And still missing it.
That’s the tension in this moment.
You can be near Jesus,
around Him, talking about Him, celebrating Him,
and still not actually see Him clearly.
The Kind of Peace We Miss
The crowd wanted rescue.
But they wanted it on their terms.
Immediate.
Visible.
The kind of change they could control.
But Jesus came to bring a deeper kind of peace.
Not just around them,
but inside them.
Not just fixing circumstances,
but restoring hearts.
And that’s easier to miss than we think.
The Question That Lingers
Where might you be expecting Jesus
to show up a certain way…
and missing what He’s actually doing?
Where might you be close to Him,
but not fully seeing Him?
Not as a trick question.
Just an honest one.
Because He hasn’t stopped coming close.
A Simple Prayer
Jesus, I don’t want to miss You.
Not because I’m distracted…
or because I’ve already decided how You’re supposed to work.
Help me see You clearly.
Even if it’s different than I expected.
Amen.
Take a Step Today
Read Luke 19:41–44 slowly.
Picture the moment.
The crowd.
The noise.
And Jesus… weeping.
Then ask yourself:
It’s possible to be really excited about Jesus…
and still miss Him.
