What does it really mean to receive Christ Jesus as Lord?

In this episode, we take a closer look at one of the most foundational phrases in the Christian life. Paul doesn't casually call Him "Christ Jesus, Lord." Each title tells us something important about who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him.

Christ points to the Anointed One, the One sent by God. Jesus reminds us that He is the God who saves us. And Lord points to His ultimate authority, calling us beyond simply believing the right things to actually surrendering our lives to Him.

Together, these truths give us a picture of faith that involves three movements: we believe, we receive, and we yield.

That last one may be the hardest. It's possible to believe in Jesus and even receive His forgiveness while still keeping certain parts of our lives under our own control. But if Jesus is truly Lord, His authority reaches into everything: our decisions, relationships, priorities, ambitions, and plans.
